2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Truck Unveiled

After months of waiting, anticipation, and a quick ad leak, General Motors has finally announced the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup truck. We now have information on all four trim levels, base MSRPs, and some of the exciting new tech that is arriving with the all-new battery-electric pickup truck. Reservations are open now, starting at $100. The four available trim levels are EV2, EV2X, EV3X, and Edition 1.
For off-road focused features, the first big item is the segment-exclusive 4 Wheel Steer system. This is what allows for the previously teased Crab Mode functionality. The Hummer EV will also be available with Adaptive Air Suspension to adjust and control the ride height. This allows for the new Extraction Mode system, raising the Hummer EV by a full six inches to maximize ground clearance and water fording ability.
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV comes equipped with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT Tires. With the Extraction Mode system and those tires, the Hummer EV is capable of climbing an 18-inch vertical step, and it will ford water crossings 24-inches deep.
UltraVision is another new feature that combines multiple cameras to provide drivers with greater awareness of their surroundings when navigating complex off-road obstacles. Hummer’s parent company GM refers to this feature as a “virtual spotter.” There are up to 18 different camera views available.
Powering the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is the all-new Ultium Drive battery and electric motor system. The e4WD system on the Hummer EV is available in two-motor or three-motor configurations, with maximum power output over 1,000 horsepower. The two-motor configurations provide 625 horsepower. Current range figures for the Hummer EV are between 250 and 350 miles depending on configuration.
To protect the battery system and drivetrain during off-road maneuvers, the Hummer EV comes equipped with underbody armor, multiple steel plates mounted to the belly of the truck.
When the Hummer EV launches in Fall of 2021, it will be available exclusively in the fully-equipped Edition 1 trim package, with an MSRP of $112,595. The Edition 1 package includes the new Watts to Freedom drive mode that maximizes performance, allowing the Hummer EV to sprint to 60 mph in just three seconds. Drive Mode Control and Adaptive Ride Control systems allow for driver-selected optimizations to power output and suspension settings, providing a tailored driving experience that enhances enjoyment both on and off-road.
Other Hummer EV Edition 1 features include a MultiPro tailgate, power rear drop window, power tonneau cover for the bed, Infinity Roof system with removable transparent Sky Panels, and a premium interior with a 13.4-inch infotainment screen. The driver display is a 12.3-inch screen.
“We had one goal for Hummer EV: Build the most capable factory truck – ever,” said Hummer EV chief engineer, Al Oppenheiser.
From what we see thus far, it seems like the mission was accomplished.
