The wait is almost over: in less than an hour today, October 20th, 2020, the all-new GMC Hummer EV reveal will take place. The announcement will be streamed live over the world wide web at 8 p.m ET, and HummerNation.com is where you can watch the reveal take place.

For those who haven’t been closely following the rebirth of the Hummer EV, here’s a summary. The Hummer brand will be revived, but this time as a sub-brand of General Motors’ GMC sub-brand. The other big change is that the new Hummer lineup will consist of new battery-electric vehicles, including a pickup truck and an SUV. The pickup truck, likely to be called SUT (an acronym for Sport Utility Truck) will be the model that will be announced today. The GMC Hummer EV reveal was originally slated for May, but was pushed back as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the skin, the new GMC Hummer EV will ride on GM’s BT1 platform, a battery-electric variant of the GM T1 platform used by GM’s full-size pickup and SUV lines, such as the Chevrolet Silverado and Cadillac Escalade.

The GM Ultium battery technology will provide the juice for the Ultium Drive electric motors, of which there will be either one, two, or three – depending on the model selected. The range-topping model will produce more than 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, and be capable of sprinting to 60 mph in three seconds. In addition to impressive on-road performance, the new Hummer also promises to offer impressive off-road capability. Maximum driving range is expected to be around 400 miles.

Production is slated to take place at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan, which was recently renamed to GM Factory ZERO. The first units are slated to arrive at dealers in the fall of 2021 as the 2022 model year vehicles. Pricing has not yet been announced, but is expected to start at the $60,000 mark.

Those interested will be able to make a reservation for a new GMC Hummer EV immediately following the vehicle’s debut. Reservations will cost $100, and interested buyers will be able to choose between four different trim levels, as well as select their dealer of choice. Options and pricing details are expected to drop with the debut, though GMC could hold off on providing specifics until a few months down the line.
