Hummer EV Design Sketches Reveal Early Inspiration For New Supertruck

The arrival of the latest Hummer EV breaks the mold for the iconic nameplate, reimagining Hummer as a brand-new, all-electric, high-tech off-roader. Naturally, a vehicle as innovative as the new Hummer needs a design to match, and now, we’re getting a look at the concept inspiration that helped carry the torch forward.

Recently posted to Instagram by Hummer’s parent company, General Motors, the Hummer EV design sketches look at the all-electric off-roader from a variety of angles, providing a few interesting insights into what went into making the final production version.

Although the production-ready Hummer EV isn’t quite as aggressive or “sci-fi-esque” as the concepts seen here, the DNA of the design is definitely more than evident.

Up front, for example, we find a broad fascia beset with thin designs for the lighting and grille section. The lower fascia is angled to provide extra prowess off road. Moving to the profile, four doors ease ingress and egress, while chunky fender flares add some extra visual muscle. The roofline is flat, falling back into a squared-off bed section. The wheels are large multi-spoke alloys wrapped in beefy off-road rubber capable of propelling the new Hummer almost anywhere. Finally, the bed can be seen housing a pair of mountain bikes in back, while the tailgate gets a two-tone treatment and hashmark tail lamps.

We’re also liking this Hummer EV concept’s silver finish, which adds even more to the vehicle’s futuristic styling cues.

No doubt about it, General Motors was right to look to these sketches when it came to design inspiration for the latest Hummer EV, as they combine high-tech, futuristic cues with the muscle-bound attitude expected of a vehicle rocking the legendary Hummer badge.
