GMC Hummer EV Shown In New Winter Testing Video

GMC posted a video of the upcoming Hummer EV undergoing winter testing to its YouTube channel. The 30-second video shows the all-electric pickup truck in action on a snow-covered test track near Sault St. Marie on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
The professional test driver is faced with several types of corners, including long sweepers, tight hairpins and fast chicanes. These are dealt with by putting the Hummer EV into a series of drifts. We never see inside the vehicle, but it’s clear that the driver exits some corners with the steering on the lock stops, and others with hardly any steering input at all.
The video undoubtedly shows a capable vehicle being driven by an expert. In a series of captions, GMC has added the phrase “Winter Didn’t Stand A Chance,” which seems accurate.
In the video description, GMC refers to this test being the start of the Hummer EV Supertruck Testing Tour. The implication is that more videos will follow, and GMC gives a hint about the next one in another caption, which reads: “Next Stop: Desert Domination.”

It is now only half a year until the GMC Hummer EV pickup goes on sale. The Edition 1 version, with three motors producing around 1,000 horsepower, will arrive in the fall of 2021, priced to start at $112,595. The less powerful, but more affordable EV3X, EV2X and EV2 will gradually be introduced over the following two and a half years.
Meanwhile, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV was unveiled during a commercial break of the NCAA Final Four tournament on April 3rd. Like the pickup, the Hummer EV SUV will initially launch in Edition 1 trim, but with an output of 830 horsepower.
