GMC Hummer EV Reveal To Take Place On October 20

We're just one week away from the official reveal.

One of the greatest nameplates in the history of the automobile is set to return soon. General Motors is reviving the Hummer nameplate with a new family of battery electric vehicles, this time under the GMC brand. The first vehicle that will revive the storied Hummer brand will be a Supertruck – a highly-capable pickup truck that’s expected to be called the GMC Hummer EV SUT (Sport Utility Truck). The GMC Hummer EV reveal is set to take place on October 20th, 2020.

The reveal will take place during the first game of the MLB World Series at 8pm EST. For those who are not sports fans, GMC will also air the reveal simultaneously during the reality singing competition The Voice on NBC. Meanwhile, cable cutters will be able to steam the reveal live in the video embedded below.

The GMC Hummer EV reveal will come in the form of a short film, and those interested will be able to place reservations immediately after the reveal.

The new family of GMC Hummer EVs will be built on a variant of the GM T1 platform that currently underpins all of GM’s full-size, body-on-frame pickup trucks and SUVs. Dubbed BT1, for Battery Electric T1, this electrified version of the platform will be capable of cradling up to three electric motors, pushing maximum available horsepower over 1,000. Range should be in the area of 400 miles on some versions.

The new Hummer EV SUT will be packed to the gills with advanced technologies and features, including a next-generation Super Cruise hands-free driving system and a four-wheel steering mode called “Crab Walk”. Other features include a removable roof that can be stowed in the front truck (aka the frunk), and multiple digital displays all powered by Epic Games’ Human-Machine Interface technology.

Yes, the new Hummer will feature infotainment displays built on the back of the Unreal Engine from Epic Games – the same company and technology that underpins the wildly-popular video game Fortnite.

Based on the renderings and teaser images available thus far, the new GMC Hummer EV Supertruck will feature a bold, retro design that is more square than most EVs today. With four doors and a bed, the Hummer EV SUT should bear a striking resemblance to the Hummer models of yore, such as the H3 and legendary H1.

The all-new GMC Hummer EV reveal is just one week away, and we will have lots more news to share in the coming days. So stay glued to HummerNation.com to make sure you never miss a single piece of Hummer news, and be sure to hit our Hummer Forum to ask questions or sound off with your thoughts on the new truck, where the Hummer brand is headed, and what features you are most excited about.
