All proceeds will go to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The first-ever GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will be auctioned for charity at the Barrett-Jackson event at WestWorld of Scottsdale, which takes place on March 20th to 27th.
The all-electric pickup truck, with three motors producing a total of 1,000 horsepower, has the VIN number 001 and is equipped with the removable transparent Sky Panels as well as the Extreme Off-Road Package, which includes 18-inch wheels, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, rock sliders, underbody armor and underbody cameras.
The range-topping Edition 1 will be the first Hummer EV to go on sale in the fall of this year, priced to start at $112,595. Collectors will surely be willing to pay substantially more than that for the very first production model.
And we hope they do, but because every cent of the winning bid will be donated by Barrett-Jackson to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Siller was a New York firefighter assigned to Brooklyn’s Squad 1 who had just finished his duty on September 11th, 2001 when he got word of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center while on his way to play golf with his brothers. He abandoned the golf match and returned to the squad, then died while saving other people’s lives.
“Every momentous event, even a tragedy, has its symbolic figures,” wrote author and family friend Jay Price. “September 11th was no different; it just had a few more of them… none bigger than Stephen Siller, whose stature only grows with time as New Yorkers and people from around the world follow his footsteps.”
The foundation created in Siller’s honor raises money for good causes. One of the most recent is the COVID-19 Heroes Fund, which has so far raised $5 million.
More details of the auction can be found on the relevant page of the Barrett-Jackson website. Anyone who does not plan to put in a bid of the Hummer EV, but would like to contribute to the Foundation, can do so on the same page.
