2022 Hummer EV Pickup Comes Standard With MultiPro Tailgate

Adding to the supertruck's versatility.

The new 2022 Hummer EV pickup is loaded to the gills with technology meant to make the supertruck a winner in terms of performance, functionality, and all-around awesomeness. One of the key features that cement the Hummer EV’s reputation of functionality and adaptability is the standard MultiPro tailgate.

First introduced on the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, the MultiPro tailgate features six configurable positions, making it more versatile than a regular tailgate. It was so popular on the 2019 Sierra, that it was also brought to the 2020 Sierra HD as well as the Chevrolet Silverado, under the Multi-Flex moniker.

In addition to the Primary Gate that opens like a regular tailgate, the MultiPro also features the following positions:

  • Primary Gate Load Stop: stops items from sliding out of the bed
  • Foldable Inner Gate: allows easier access to items in the bed
  • Full-Width Step: makes it easily to climb in and out of the bed
  • Inner Gate Load Stop: prevents second-tier items from sliding out of the bed
  • Inner Gate Work Surface: works like a workbench to allow one to use a computer or a notepad

The MultiPro tailgate will allow the Hummer EV to be as much of a work vehicle as it is a supertruck. All of the vehicle’s off-road features could be used in work situations when a capable off-roader is needed, like during natural disasters such as floods or wildfires. Who says that the CrabWalk and 13 inches of suspension lift have to be only used for off-road adventures?

As a reminder, the 2022 Hummer EV pickup is scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2021. The range-topping Edition 1 model will be the first to launch at a price of $112,595. Other, more affordable models will follow shortly thereafter.
