Hummer EV Sits And Gets Under Heavy Acceleration

Test driver floors it, resulting in massive weight transfer.

The all-new 2022 Hummer EV is much more than a battery-powered off-roader – it also has the performance specs to spank the pants off top-tier sports cars. Now, we’re getting a look at the new Hummer putting those specs to the test with the following real world photos.

This particular Hummer EV is lacking the usual production-spec body work, with a front fascia treatment that includes blacked-out headlamp surrounds rather than the usual clear lamps. The profile is also devoid of the production model’s black fender flares, while the rear end gets blacked-out tail lamp surrounds, rather than the production tail lamp treatment.

Regardless of the way it looks, this Hummer EV prototype has the power promised by the production vehicle, rearing back on its haunches as it unleashes a heady dose of all-electric muscle under hard acceleration.

With instant torque delivery, the Hummer EV launches forward in brutal fashion, compressing the rear suspension as the front end lifts up. The launch even exposes some of the front suspension components as a result of the weight transfer.

This particular model was captured in Michigan coming out of the General Motors Milford Proving Grounds. As the vehicle got underway, the driver floored it, causing the rear end to squat, demonstrating the impressive power that the new Hummer EV wields.

As a reminder, the top-trim Hummer EV Edition 1 is equipped with a three-motor powertrain delivering over 1,000 horsepower, enough to send the pickup to 60 mph in just three seconds in Watts To Freedom mode. Lower in the line, the Hummer EV is offered with 800 horsepower and 625 horsepower.

Impressive stuff, no doubt. Looking ahead, the Hummer EV lineup is set to expand with the introduction of the new SUV body style tomorrow.

Stay tuned for more on the debut soon, and don’t forget to keep it on Hummer Nation for all the latest Hummer EV news. We also encourage you to join the Hummer Forum to share your questions, thoughts, and advice with fellow Hummer enthusiasts from around the world.
