Last week, HummerNation.com published photos of the first-ever production GMC Hummer EV pickup truck on display at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Hummer EV VIN 001 subsequently sold for $2.5 million, all of which was handed over to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The final sale amount is more than 22 times the vehicle’s MSRP of $112,595, and will likely be the highest sum ever paid for a Hummer EV. The figure is nearly half of the $5.8 million raised for charity by the sale of nine vehicles at Scottsdale. GMC parent company General Motors also supplied the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing models, which together raised $430,000 for Black Ambition, and the first retail production 2020 Chevy Corvette Convertible, which raised $400,000 to benefit United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
“Barrett-Jackson and the collector car hobby really stepped up for charity in Scottsdale,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We helped raise millions of dollars through the sale of nine charity vehicles, which included a record number of VIN 001 and first production models ever offered at auction.
“We’re grateful to our partners at Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and GMC chose to leverage the Barrett-Jackson stage and give collectors the opportunity to own a piece of history and also benefit critical organizations. I continue to be inspired by their commitment to supporting those who need our help the most.”

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors Stephen Stiller, a firefighter who died while saving others during the September 11th, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. It raises money for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, and for the surviving families of those who have died.

For those who didn’t spend $2.5 million for the Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup, the vehicle will go on sale in the fall of this year in the Edition 1 guise. It will be followed over the next two and a half years by more models of increasing affordability, culminating in the $79,995 Hummer EV2. An SUV version of the pickup will be officially revealed on April 3rd.
