Watch A Hummer H2 Brazenly Plow Through A Foot Of Snow With Ease: Video

Like a boss.

There are some things that only a Hummer can do. Plowing through a foot (or more?) of densely-packed snow on a city street is one of those things, as shown in the video below.

The scene is one of almost ironic hilarity. As two people are shoveling the snow away from their cars, a driver of a bright yellow Hummer H2 is making his (or her) way down the same street, pushing aside snow like a boss.

After the Hummer H2 effortlessly makes its way through the snow, the woman behind the camera lets out a quip that is all too commonly directed towards Hummers: “I bet he paid $100 in gas.”

While it is true that filling up a Hummer is no economic endeavor, the video single-handedly makes the argument for buying such a vehicle: the capability, especially in adverse driving conditions. Yes, the Hummer H2 with its 6.0L V8 is no Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV), nor did it ever claim to be that. But while the woman recording the video spent the day cleaning the snow off her car, the guy (or gal) in the Hummer is now well on his or her way to work, or whatever destination of their choosing. Plus, the task actually cost closer to $1 in gasoline, which is nowhere closer to the $100 exaggeration.

Inspired by the Humvee line of military vehicles, the Hummer lineup was designed to be tough, rugged, and highly capable, while including the necessary creature comforts to appeal to civilians. In this particular case, capability equals convenience.

2003 Hummer H2

The Hummer H2 was built from 2003 thru 2009 and was available with three engine configurations. From 2002-2003, it had GM’s Vortec 6000 6.0 LQ4 V8 pushing out 316 horsepower. The 2004–2007 model years got the same engine with a slightly higher output of 325 horses. Meanwhile, the 2008-2009 Hummer H2 models came with the most capable engine of the bunch: a Vortec 6200 6.2 L92 V8 pushing 393 horsepower.

2007 Hummer H3

As the 2008 recession loomed, GM began to experience several financial difficulties that led to a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. One of the by-products of the restructuring proceedings was a discontinuation of the Hummer division, with the last Hummer H3 rolling off the line in May of 2010.

2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup

But in October 2020, more than 10 years after the brand’s demise, GMC unveiled the 2022 Hummer EV – a fully-electric Supertruck. Set to launch in the second half of 2021 calendar year, the all-new Hummer EV vehicle will be available in versions with up to 1,000 horsepower.
