Hummer EV May Be Sold In Australia

The all-new, battery-driven Hummer could be headed Down Under.

One could consider the 2022 GMC Hummer EV to be the “tip of the spear” when it comes to passenger vehicles and off-road technology. It’s an impressive bit of kit, but so far, GM has only announced plans to sell the new battery-powered Hummer in the United States, Canada, and the Middle East. However, recent rumors and evidence suggest that the Hummer EV may be sold in Australia, as well.

A recent report from Australian automotive news outlet whichcar states that the new GMC Hummer EV pickup will be among several vehicles offered in Australia by General Motors Special Vehicles (GMSV), the new Australian brand for Hummer’s parent company, General Motors, which replaced the Holden and Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) organizations.

The news outlet points to a long list of GM products set for sale in Australia under the new GMSV brand, including the Chevrolet Camaro, the Chevrolet Corvette C8, and the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Critically, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is part of the list as well, with unnamed local sources being cited as saying the new EV pickup has “great potential” in Australia.

The rumor follows an exclusive HummerNation.com report from November, wherein we uncovered a trademark filing made to the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand for the word “GMC” in relation to the motor vehicles category of goods and services.

The trademark filing likely foreshadows the arrival of the GMC Hummer EV in New Zealand and, by association, Australia – since General Motors traditionally treats Australia and New Zealand similarly, at least from a product offering standpoint. In other words, what it offers in New Zealand it also typically offers in Australia.

Indeed, for those Aussie enthusiasts eager to test the new GMC Hummer EV at the country’s numerous off-road destinations, this all bodes well. Though no official announcement has been made as of this writing, it might be a matter of time before that takes place.

We will continue bringing you the latest information about the all-new Hummer EV, so stay glued to HummerNation.com to make sure you don’t miss a beat. We also invite you to join our Hummer Forum where you can share questions, thoughts, and advice with Hummer fans the world over.
