Hummer EV To Feature Bose Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement Technology

With upwards of 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, not to mention a 0-to-60 mph time of just three seconds, the all-new GMC Hummer EV is far from your typical off-roading pickup truck. Indeed, the new Hummer has the right stuff to lay down some impressive performance figures, both on and off the road, and now, we’re learning one of the ways in which this battery-driven monster enhances that visceral experience for its passengers.

In a keynote presentation at the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), GMC’s parent company, General Motors, provided fresh insight into the new Hummer EV’s plethora of features. During the presentation, GMC Hummer EV lead development engineer, Aaron Pfau, talked about the new Hummer’s Terrain Mode with one-pedal driving, which allows for greater precision when venturing into the rough stuff, as well as Watts To Freedom mode, which unleashes the Hummer’s full performance potential off the line.

“But how do you create the sensory explosion to accompany motors turned up to 11?” Pfau asks. “We worked with Bose.”

The new Hummer EV will also debut the Bose Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement system, incorporating sonic influences like guitar riffs, high-frequency feedback, and sounds inspired by Formula E to effectively underline the Hummer’s insane performance potential.

“It is a truly immersive sensory experience that brings you in direct contact with your vehicle, and we can’t wait to share it with you later this year,” Pfau adds.

The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will be the first new Hummer out the gates, with the initial customer-bound units set to arrive this fall. Lower trims will follow, with the Hummer EV3X arriving in the fall of 2022, the Hummer EV2X arriving in the spring of 2023, and the Hummer EV2 arriving in the spring of 2024.
